We have two nurseries in Oakham. Both have been chosen for their safe environment and generous outdoor space. To book a show around at either Ark site please call us and we will arrange a convenient time to show you around and meet our practitioners.
Princess Avenue
This purpose built nursery has three separate rooms for children ages 3mths to 5 yrs. The nursery has large outdoor areas including a separate under 2’s area with an artificial grass surface and a planting and growing garden. The front space is used for the larger physical equipment and the rear space houses exploration areas of the mud kitchen and sand pit.
The outdoor area also has a large canopy which extends the indoors to outdoors and creates a great space for free-flow play in all weathers.
The pre-school children have access to the swimming pool at the Oakham C of E primary school once a week on a Monday morning and we also run a forest school session for the pre-school children on a Thursday morning. We transport children using our own minibus.
During term time hot lunches can be provided from the school kitchen at Oakham C of E primary school for a cost of £2.80 per day which includes a main meal and a pudding, alternatively packed lunches with an ice pack may be provided from home.
The Ark is open from 7.30am to 5.30/6pm. The main nursery day runs from 9am to 4pm with a morning session being 9-12/1 and an afternoon session being 12/1 to 4pm. We are open all year round, only closing for Bank Holidays and Christmas.

Burley Road
The Burley Road Ark is housed within the Oakham C of E Primary School. It is separated into two main rooms, one from 18 months to 3 years and the other from 3 years until school. We have a large outside play area with outside messy play kitchen, potion station, large physical play equipment and lots of room to move and explore on playground or grassed areas. The Pre-School children have the use of the school swimming pool once a week on a Monday morning and we also run a forest school session once a week on a Wednesday morning. Children are transported to forest school using our own minibus.
The Ark is open from 7.30am to 6pm on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and 5.30pm on a Friday. The main nursery sessions run from 9am- 12pm/1pm and 12/1pm- 3.30pm. Our full Nursery day is 9am-3.30pm. We are open term time only with the option for your child to attend the Princess Avenue site in the holidays. We join children together during this time and use staff from both sites so there is always a familiar face around.
